    Under the direction of the Special Education Teacher, provide designated care and support as it relates to post-secondary transition and to students with Individual Education Plans (IEP).   Present students, staff, and families with relevant information, assistance in daily tasks, life skills training and employment opportunities.  Collaborate with staff on transition focused curriculum and student’s IEP related to the student’s individual transition plan.  Promote program goals and growth through professional development and student/family outreach.


    Essential Functions:

    • Provide direct support to students with individual education plans as it relates to post-secondary transition; provide students and families with information to career interests, exploration, and employment preparation and self-advocacy.

    • Plan, organize, and provide opportunities for students to explore training and employment options

    • Identify and facilitate appropriate modifications within students’ training and work environment

    • Assist in administering career assessments and inventories for development of IEP’s and career interests

  • School Social Worker

    The Colorado River BOCES has a full-time position open for a School Social Worker. The social worker is responsible for providing direct support and interventions to students, consulting with teachers, families, and other school-employed mental health professionals (i.e., school counselors, school psychologist) to improve support strategies, working with school administrators to improve school-wide practices and policies, completing assessments and collaborating with community providers to coordinate needed services. The position will require travel and candidates must be eligible for Colorado State license. Compensation is based on degree level and experience.

  • General Description of the Role

    Special Education Coordinator are responsible for assisting in the efficient and effective operation of special education services of the specific school district to which they are assigned.  Their role includes assisting in the leadership in the planning, coordination, and implementation of compliant special education services. This includes assistance to special education teachers, providers and other staff members in the effective delivery of services to special education students.

    Position Summary

    The purpose of this position is to support the accomplishment of Colorado River Boces mission by empowering teachers and students for a brighter future by providing our school districts leadership and direction for birth to age 21 special education programs and services in compliance with District, State and Federal objectives. Provides supervision of Special Service Providers, including: Speech Language Pathologists, Psychologists, Occupational Therapists, Physical Therapists, Teachers of the Visually Impaired, Teachers of the Deaf and Hard of Hearing, and Audiologists. Provide direct support to the Special Education Director in designing, developing, implementing, delivering and progress monitoring those programs and services determined appropriate for students. Supports the Special Education Director in evaluating programs, services, and personnel as assigned in accordance with district policies and procedures.

    • Consult and collaborate with district administrators and school special education staff regarding the implementation and maintaining services and programming.

    • Facilitate, and monitor the development and implementation of effective curriculum and instructional practices and school policies, as well as problem solving practices and procedures (based on student data) that fully consider the needs of special education students.

    • Identify local professional development needs and implementation of training of teachers and support personnel in the provision of appropriate special educational and related services including IEP questions and requirements and transitions as outlined in State and Federal law.

    • Provide program implementation support and guidance including research, identification and implementation across the district and individual schools in the area of Special Education. This may also include facilitation and participation in manifestation meetings, expulsion hearings and other district, school or parent meetings. 

    • Remain current on instructional strategies and models in program strategies guiding instructional strategies.

    • Work with teachers and providers  to analyze their teaching behaviors to increase student achievement and participation within the educational setting..

    Supervision

    • Assist with the recruitment, hiring, lead, supervise, train, educate, and support, special staff

    • Provide input on staffing needs for assigned special education programs, resources and materials to staff as needed.

    • Assist to establish and maintain effective, cooperative, and respectful working relationships with staff, parents, and students from diverse backgrounds regarding evaluation, placement, and education of students

    • Assist in the supervision of related service providers and secretaries (district and CR BOCES) in district


    Implementation of Special Education

    • Assist district administrators with understanding and properly enforcing policies and regulations related to special education

    • Assist in the annual review of services and recommend changes as needed 

    • Serve as a Crisis Prevention Intervention (CPI) trainer for district staff, providing ongoing training and certification.

    • Attend multi-disciplinary team and IEP/staffing meetings, as needed, to facilitate development of appropriate plans for students who are eligible for special education, especially when support, intervention, or mediation is needed.

    • Support school efforts to engage parents in their student’s learning through proactive communication and involvement in the IEP process.

    • Assist IEP teams with student transitions from elementary to middle school, middle to high school, and/or post-secondary programs

    • Assure and monitor development and timely submission of data for required CDE reports and requests

    • Supervise ESY, student transfers, out-of-district placements, relationships with charter schools, and parent groups and involvement

    • Facilitate manifestations

    • Assist with the coordination of special education advisory committees

    • Assure compliance for all special education matters, with particular emphasis on the State Performance Plan Indicators

    • Work with District Special Education Secretaries to maintain an efficient IEP paperwork process

    • Serve as resource person for Sped teachers

    • Support the development and implementation of behavior intervention plans and positive behavior supports to support the social, emotional and behavioral needs of the students within the classroom environment.

    • Coordinate private school service plans including consultation with qualified private schools within the district boundary (as needed)

    • Coordinate successful transitions from Part C to Part B

    • Assist the Special Education Director with management of the collection and compilation of data to complete records and reports required by Local, State and Federal agencies, including the IDEA Federal narrative and budget for CDE.

  • The Colorado River BOCES has a full time Speech Language Pathologist position open.   The school SLP is responsible for providing direct support and interventions to students, consulting with teachers, families, and other school-employed professionals to improve support strategies.  They help students meet the performance standards by assuming a range of responsibilities: 1) working in partnership with others to meet students’ needs, 2) providing direction in defining students’ roles and responsibilities, and 3) ensuring appropriate services are being provided.  Candidates must be eligible for Colorado State license.   • Yampah Mountain High School has an opportunity available to join their team as a  Special Education/ Student Information Systems Maintenance secretary.

    The Special Education Secretary will assist the School Principal, Program Deans, Special Education Director, district, and YMHS/Rebound special education staff to optimize workflow, review compliance checks, and assist with scheduling.  Additionally, this position will assist the YMHS Executive Secretary as needed to keep the Student Information System updated.

    The ideal candidate will be self-motivated, able to work independently as well as collaboratively, and have at least one year of secretarial type experience. 

    180 work days / 5-6 hours per day.  Starting pay is $23.25 per hour DOE plus benefits.

  • Yampah Mountain High School has an opportunity available to join their team as a bus driver/ maintenance/ custodial staff member in a combined position.  As a school bus driver, you are responsible for bringing students to and from school, ensuring timely pick-up and drop-off as well as maintaining a safe environment for all passengers.  Duties may include regular daily routes as well as transportation for events and interim trips.  Tuesday – Friday approx. 20 hours/week.  

    This position will be combined with a building maintenance/ custodian for an additional 10 hours/ week.  This position will be responsible for daily upkeep of restrooms and other spot cleaning, minor maintenance projects, and moving equipment and materials as needed.

    As a combined position of 30 hours/week, the job is eligible for full-time insurance benefits.  The starting salary is $23.26 per hour DOE.   This position will follow the school academic calendar.
